LISTED BY THEATRE AND PROJECT
Mother Russia
For Hartford Stage's Anastasia. I started with a nude Athena statue and had to turn her into a clothed Mother Russia Statue
Mother Russia
I draped the dress on the statue and used chicken wire, batting, and muslin to create a scarf that appears to be blowing in the wind.
Mother Russia
Once the muslin was all completed, I covered her in crystal gel to prepare for painting.
Mother Russia
I used raw umber, yellow ochre, and burnt sienna to base the statue in a scumble.
Mother Russia
After the base, I used blue and red glazes to push the color of the underpainting.
Mother Russia
Next, I used a combination of gold paint and gloss polycrylic to add a little metallic shine
Mother Russia
After the gold, I used layers of brown and payne's gray glazes to make the statue look bronzed.
Mother Russia
This was an actual Soviet crest that was once on a train; it started out as a light silvery metal.
